East Ring of Yorkshire. Be it remembered, That Thomas Carr of East Cottingwith Farmer, & Matthew Beilby of the the same place Farmer the 26th day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty Seven came before Beilby Thompson of Everick ? one of majesty's justices of the peace for the said Riding, and in their proper persons acknowledge themselves to be indebted to our sovereign lord the king, that is to say - the said Thomas Carr in the sum of Ten Pounds & the said Matthew Beilby also in the Sum of Ten Pounds to be made & levied on their lands and tenements, goods and chattels, to the use of the said lord the king, his heirs and successors, to be levied, if default shall be made in the condition following; The condition of the above Recognizance is such, that if the above bound Thomas Carr and Matthew Beilby shall personally appear at the next general quarter sessions of the peace to be held in and for the said Riding, and answer such matters and things as shall then and there, on his majesty's behalf, be objected against them and for which they are indicted, and shall do and receive what shall be then and there enjoined them by the court; and shall not depart the court without licence, then the above Recognizance to be void, or else to remain in full force.
