If I could only choose one word to describe Martha, it would be clean. From the moment she woke, to the moment she went to bed she cleaned. Well maybe I exaggerate a little. I loved the foods she cooked, and she was a social butterfly, visiting neighbors, having neighbors over. She had a sense of humor and found happiness in simple things. She spoiled me and my brothers rotten when we visited, took us to the beach, gave us candy, bought us clothes. What I really liked most about her were her stories and pictures. I'd be surprised if she didn't have thousands of pictures. Many she had hung on the wall, others in albums, and we would sit and look at the pictres and she would tell me whose house was in the picture and who they were.
Martha use to be a hair dresser, and she did a good job of it. My last trip out to KY I ran into a woman in Frankfort who had had her hair dressed by Martha. It was amazing that we ran into each other. Martha was a capable woman, she is someone I admire and love.
